In I Was A Teenage Treacle Tin, Mike looks back to his childhood and growing up in 1950s London. It was a time of innocence and trust, when parents didn't worry where their children were or what they were doing as long as they turned up for their tea.

Here are the events, situations and characters he encountered during a crowded childhood. His growing fascination with cinema after he'd received a toy projector for Christmas, his traumatic stay in hospital having his tonsils removed, the dentist who cared little about children and terrified him, the teachers who bored him rigid at secondary school, and his thoroughly enjoyable misadventures camping with the Boy Scouts. He also describes his halcyon holidays with his parents in Kent, injuring himself with his home-made fireworks, starting his great love of music with a temperamental wind-up gramophone and the bitter sweetness of first love.

With nostalgia and great affection, Mike looks back at a child's world that can only be imagined today.
