《苦瓜.青蔥.山葵》,苦瓜果實的外皮有一顆顆的突起,像是長了瘤一般;種植的方式是讓苦瓜在地面上匍匐前進或沿著棚架攀爬,因為它長有特化的捲鬚,可以緊緊抓住支架,就不怕風吹雨打了。炎炎夏日,吃一道苦瓜料理,能夠清涼退火!蔥的外型細細長長,像是中空的管子,上端部分是綠色,下端部分是白色,它具有特殊香氣,許多的料理都需要用它調味,才會有加倍的美味!山葵就是俗稱的「哇沙米」,是吃生魚片時會沾來吃的綠色醬料,它生長在寒冷的氣候中,葉片油油亮亮呈現心形,做調味料的部位是它的根莖,經過處理後,磨成糊狀加入醬油就是辣辣的「哇沙米」了。它具有抗菌、防腐的功能,而且它辛辣的風味可以促進食慾唷!看完本書後,或許會很期待下次在餐桌上品嘗這幾種蔬菜呢!
