An Old Man In His 90s Is Badly Beaten

Daniel Callahan is found beaten in his home. But when the police ask Callahan about it, he says he injured himself in a fall. Callahan's neighbor calls Tahoe Detective Owen McKenna. In trying to discover why, Callahan was assaulted, McKenna learns that Mr. Callahan might be the only person still alive who witnessed the scuttling of Tahoe's grandest ship, the SS Tahoe Steamer, in 1940.

A Body Washes Up On A Tahoe Beach

The local police wonder if McKenna, who is an art buff, can make sense of an artistic tattoo on the back of the body found on a South Lake Tahoe beach. McKenna recognizes the tattoo was based on a famous painting of a sinking ship.

The Murder Connects To The Wreck Of Tahoe's Greatest Ship

Everywhere McKenna investigates, he finds another connection to shipwrecks and the SS Tahoe Steamer. He realizes that the key to the murder seems to be something hidden on the sunken ship, far down in the Tahoe deep. McKenna sets a trap for the killer. But as his plan unfolds, the secret of Tahoe's greatest ship is about to kill the people closest to McKenna...
