Nicholas is at a monastery in Tibinda on a journey of healing that he hopes puts him back on the proper path. None of this impacts his curiosity and desire for knowledge, though, which he learns quickly gets him into quite a bit of trouble with the three monks. But there is honestly no need to worry as his father is on an adventure of his own.

Isaiah has made it out of Haven and into Roupan, where he boards an elf wingship and meets more than just the mythical elves. Here Isaiah lands himself in a situation that is all too familiar, yet he doesn't realize it, and ends up in a land that humans can only dream about. Eventually son and father, along with the spirit of Brida, come together again, igniting a tempest as expectations clash and emotions run high. It will appear this family is ripping at the seams, and there is nothing Brida can do but watch as all she loves falls apart before her eyes.
