Trust is an important factor that defines the way we relate or associate with people. It also determines who we relate with. Trust functions on the basis of our feelings, wishes, and best interests. Your feelings, wishes, and best interests are interconnected and these are what determine whether you can trust someone or not. We don't trust with the head, we trust with our heart.
Just about all of us will have our trust betrayed at some point in our lives.
This may be at the hands of a cheating partner, a friend who shares a secret told to them in confidence, or a parent who mistreats or belittles us instead of validating or encouraging us. Possibly we've experienced all of the above. The feeling wasn't a pleasant one. This is one of the reasons why many people struggle to trust.
Every time trust is betrayed there's a little bit of damage done to us at the very core of our being. And when trust is broken many times over the years, it can be very, very difficult to ever truly trust a person again, in any form of relationship.
This book will explore what trust is, how trust issues are developed and formed, the signs that someone has developed trust issues, and how to get over trust issues.
