Conall O'Keefe learns he's the sole heir to the estate of Shamus O'Keefe, his roguish and extremely wealthy great-great-grandfather. After arriving in the small coastal town of Round Harbor, he learns more about his family history and begins to realize he has more in common with Shamus than he could have ever imagined.
The Will included strange stipulations; the heir's eye color had to be amber, the same Shamus', and he would have to live in the family mansion for a period of one year. As Conall prepares the mansion to live in, his life becomes intertwined with two local women, Ellen and Sam. They become friends, drawn to each other by some unseen connection. In the end, all three share the mysterious and lusty legacy of the descendant.
