The Pizza Connection was a conspiracy involving the Sicilian Mafia, La Cosa Nostra in the United States and pizza parlor owners and employees. It was a virtual international heroin racket with a splendidly contrived front. Pietro Alfano, an Oregon, Illinois pizza shop owner was just one of the men involved in the vast criminal organization. On February 11, 1987 Alfano was one of two men shot outside of a Greenwich Village cafe. It was during the time that Pietro was giving testimony in the Pizza Connection trial in New York City.
