Since the Great Reformation, the subject of the sacraments in the orthodox, catholic and protestant dogmas of Christianity has been a cause of some debate among theologians. This essay, however, will be mostly concentrated on something specific: the Great Sacrament of the Eucharist, the turning of bread and wine to body and blood of Christ.
Actually this precise exegesis of the divine mystery is the main reason I am led to write this piece that will be examining the nature of this mystery under the scope of Jesus's words referring to the broken bread and the wine:
Mathew 26:26
"Take eat this is my body"
"Drink from it, all of you. For this is my blood of the new covenant"
Luke 22:19
"Do this in remembrance of me."
