The Song of God (Bhagavad Gita) is the quintessential Hindu scripture. This remarkable dialogue between Lord Krishna and Arjuna, the most accomplished warrior on the Pandava side, has been acclaimed as the most precious guide on human action and behaviour. Mahatma Gandhi, the greatest exponent of nonviolence in modern times, considered it his Bible, though, on the face of it, it is an exhortation to fight a war. Lord Krishna talks about the different aspects of life and death, action and inaction, devotion and worship, meditation and renunciation and even about different types of food that influence human nature.

This translation has tried to present the holy words in simple English so that the average English reader can get a glimpse of the subtleties of Indian philosophy.
