Beloved Old Age was detective novelist Margery Allingham's alternative title for The Relay — her last completed book, in which she described the experience of caring for her mother and aunts at the end of their lives. The Relay is published here for the first time, fifty years after it was written. Margery's biographer Julia Jones, takes inspiration from it as she struggles to survive her own challenges of old age and dementia care.
