Moving companies operate by their own rules. There are rules that govern what, when and how you must pay. There are other rules that govern what you may claim if your shipment is lost or damaged. And, another set of rules that governs how you can complain.

As you will see in Relocate for Less!, these rules are applied for the benefit of the moving companies. After all, it's the moving companies that charge the fees and process the claims. Of course, they are going to rule in their own favor! Shippers — that's you — have almost no legal remedies. It's almost impossible to sue, and most arbitrated claims are decided in favor of the movers.

A shipper's best protection is to know their rights and know how to legally protect themselves. In Relocate for Less! I'll go through each stage of a move in order, and identify what shippers need to know and do at each step.
