Ursula Discher, a 22-year-old in Communist Poland was at the center of an international espionage affair that played out from December 1960-October 1961. Polish officials came in on her while she was in bed with U.S. diplomat Irvin Scarbeck. Scarbeck was charged with passing classified documents to Red Army agents. They had threatened Discher with exposure as an unregistered prostitute if Scarbeck didn't give them the papers they wanted. Trial for Scarbeck was held in federal court in Washington, D.C.
