Some of the most gruesome murders take place as an emotion reaction to something else; referred to as crimes of passion. The murderous act itself might demonstrate the passionate engagement that the killer's mind was in at the time. Meaning, the gruesome the murder, the more passion driving the killer? If so, passion can then presumably originate from a place of good but the vehicle to demonstrate it is bad.
