Steven Bond is a graduate of Mary Immaculate College, Limerick. He has lectured widely across the history of ideas – philosophy, literature, theology – James Joyce and Samuel Beckett are the focus of academic publications. A first novella, Ulysses 2 Murder in Paris, drew comparisons with Flann O'Brien. Checkerworks is his first collection of poetry.
"Evoking emotions of love, loss & beauty, Steven's poems are decadent & set in our favourite Limerick beauty spots." – Nicola Hogg
"Checkerworks is a collection of life-enhancing and transcendent treasures. It is a relief that these have been gathered up and shared with the world. These words will remind you of what more there is to life when you see and do everything with love." – Holly Cowman
"The core elements of Steven Bond's poetry are unapologetic emotion and an infectious rhythm and energy. The people and the places he loves burst into life upon the page. Steven writes from the heart." – Michael Durack
"Steven Bond gives free rein to raw sentiment and feeling for people and place, love and love loss, innocence and his mother, Laura. They are the snapshots of youth growing into maturity with honest takes on the intimate possibilities of pubs. The importance of place shines through, Limerick abounds." – John Liddy
