Die Originalversion von "On The Mississippi" wurde 1912 veröffentlicht. Von verschiedenen Künstlern wurden in den letzten Jahrzehnten zahlreiche Bearbeitungen des Songs angefertigt. Die bekannteste Version stammt von Billy Murray. Mittlerweile gehört dieser Song zum Popular Standard.
