"Wild Heather" by L. T. Meade is a novel about a young idealist who wants to be an illustrator. She is instantly forced to face reality when she discovers that businesses looking for illustrators will only accept males. To make ends meet, she takes a job as a live-in babysitter for a divorced newspaper owner's two kids. Her maternal instincts quickly warn her that the young kids are under strict parental supervision. Her boss was heartbroken by his first wife's rejection of him and the children. He vows to never again start a relationship. He is involved with a young socialite, so it will be a mutually beneficial relationship for both of them. The newspaperman's fiance's father is then found to be involved as an investigative reporter who uncovers corruption. Things are starting to heat up now!
