This book is an antidote to those well meaning, but very dated, 'lavender' stories so popular with publishers. It is a very personal, irreverent, humorous, some might say offensive (because it does not conform to the lavender tradition), tongue in cheek look at the reality of, 'la merde': that which passes for day-to-day life in France. And day-to-day life is a series of never ending problems, almost none of which will be created by you.
The problems are created by an ancient and chaotic bureaucracy out of control. A bit like a Victorian asylum with the lunatics in charge discussing whether the straightjackets should be white of flowery pink and no matter how many times you may read this or hear it you really have no idea how badly it will impact your life until you suffer it.
Nowhere, during all our research before moving to France, did we find any of the information contained in these pages. And there is no point in asking a French person for information, as you will discover. So, here it is, the stuff nobody else tells you - until now - exposed and naked to the public eye.
