John Dryden's 'All for Love; or, the World Well Lost' is a timeless tragedy that tells the story of Antony and Cleopatra's last hours together. In an attempt to revive serious drama, Dryden drew inspiration from Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra to create a masterpiece that has become his best-known and most-performed play. The play is written in blank verse and focuses on the relationship between the two lovers as Egypt faces impending doom. As they struggle to maintain their love against all odds, tensions rise with the arrival of Ventidius, a Roman general who disapproves of Antony's relationship with Cleopatra.
