Profane Prose by Rubén Darío is a set of poems that are related to a mysterious and fantastic world. The book tells you about princesses, kings, knights, fairies, and many other mythological characters. The original book Prosas profanas was published in Buenos Aires in 1896. Each of the poems in the book has a history of its own, yet only some of these histories lived up to our days. Thus, we know that "Blasón" was written in Madrid during the celebration of the centenary of Columbus.
