In 1963 FBI bomb investigators compared their probe of the Birmingham, Alabama church bombing to the explosion of a United Air Lines flight on November 1, 1955. The UAL flight contained 24 sticks of explosive dynamite that brought it down within ninety minutes of takeoff. The luxury airliner was on a flight to Seattle and some of its passengers were going as far as Spenard, Alaska. Among these was Daisy Kane, whose son was later charged with planting the bomb. Investigators questioned how the father of two children, and a devoted husband and son, could be responsible for such a terrible tragedy.
