In October 1935 Martin Krompier was Arthur Flegenheimer aka Dutch Schultz's man Friday on Broadway. On the evening of October 24th boxing promoter Krompier had left a boxing match early to return to his Broadway beat. At 12 a.m. he was inside the Hollywood Barbershop with his brother Jules. Both men were having shaves when they were interrupted by gunfire. Martin was hit by shots directed at him by either one or two shooters. Just moments before the shooting Martin learned that his boss had been gunned down in nearby Newark.
