The April 21, 1948 attempted murder of CIO/UAW President Walter Reuther brought about a massive manhunt in the Detroit, Michigan area. The city council and police force worked in tandem with Mayor Toy, who rounded up all known Communists in the Wayne County region. Reuther was shot through his kitchen window as he and his wife were getting ready for bed. My e-book looks at the era and the men who were arrested for the crime some six years later.
