When we speak of a "door" in a spiritual sense, we are speaking of gaining access to another dimension. A door controls the entrance into the spiritual dimension even as a door controls the entrance into our home. If a door is that important in our natural life, how much more so does it applies to our spiritual home in heaven? We do not think of leaving our natural home without a key to get back in, yet we are given the impression by some that we can gain access anytime we please. But even the disciples of Jesus were taken aback with the demands put on them in order to enter the Kingdom of God. From the very beginning God made it clear "that without the shedding of blood, there can be no remission of sin." This pattern has been the central theme of the Bible both in the Old Testament and the New Testament. The question of sin still lies at the door of man's consciousness and is the main issue facing mankind throughout the world.

Richard O. Govier (1928-2018) was a Protestant pastor and missionary and travelled the world in that capacity. He planted a number of churches as well as training pastors who served in Brazil, Chile, Argentina and across the United States.
