Carmine "the Snake" Persico died at the Duke Medical Center in March 2019. A veteran criminal, Persico became head of the Columbo crime syndicate in 1973. My e-book looks at a July-August 1965 incident that linked an extortion of Carmine Persico to an ex-con named Joseph Kadlub. Kadlub was shot and killed in a Brooklyn bar on July 31, 1965.
