PAISLEY wanted nothing more but for her life to stay the same. Yes, sometimes she wanted to be in control of her life but living with her parents spared her the horrors of growing up. 
RORI didn't have much choice but to grow up fast. With a not so perfect past and not so perfect parents she was forced to take control and it didn't seem like that was going to change any time soon. And to tell the truth, she liked it that way. Safe in her comfortable bubble, always in control. 
But when Paisley is kicked out by her parents and has no place to go she finds a helping hand from a stranger, the diner girl, Rori. But living with Rori comes with a certain amount of rules. And Paisley isn't planning on adulting any time soon.
