Rosario Palmeiri was a Genovese caporegime who was closely tied to Michele "Mike" Miranda, Ernest "the Hawk" Rupolo as well as "Don Vitone" Vito Genovese. Palmieri, aka Sally Young, made headlines in 1934 as one of two killers of Ferdinand "the Shadow" Boccia. Genovese called the hit on Boccia at his uncle's club after Boccia demanded his share of a $160,000 swindle of a fixed card game. Palmieri was later noteworthy as a drug trafficker in the Mafia.
