Joseph Stracci was Harlem Mafia soldier associated with the Lucchese crime family. A brother-in-law of ex-Welfare Island inmate Joseph "Tough Joe" Rao, Stracci was closely tied to corruption in the New York garment district. The tandem of Stracci and Rao were also connected to dirty politics at Tammany Hall. Democratic Party leader Carmine De Sapio and ex-judge Francis Xavier Mancuso were two politicians who were thought to have been influenced by the Lucchese Mafia.
