Based on the verses of the Holy Quran, the sayings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWS), and on internal and external observations, it is clearly apparent that just as men have spiritual experiences and witness signs of Allah (SWT) upon penetrating the unseen, so too do women. The latter are likewise capable of progressing along the various stages through studying the outward form of nature as well as through gaining beneficial insight into both inward and outward secrets and mysteries.

The book 'A Trip to Paradise' (Jannat ki Sair) presents a sample of similar spiritual experiences as experienced by a man and a woman for showing that spiritual capacities are equally present in both. Both are thus equally capable in terms of developing their spiritual knowledge. The same soul substance functions in both men and women. The same spiritual qualities and capacities are present in women as have also been naturally endowed in men. If a woman can become like Rabia Basri, then all women are capable of awakening their inherent spiritual capacities given by Allah (SWT) and becoming saints.
