The heart is pulling.
Is it a case of love or desire?
The heart is calling. Is it an illusion?
From Texas to Holly Springs a cowboy flees his life of broken dreams and tragedy.
Turi Capriotti was haunted by his past. An arranged marriage to a woman who was his best friend ended in murder. Now all he had were memories of a shootout and three dead, all because of his infidelity. He drank too much, couldn't work and felt he was a burden to his identical twin Joey.
He had all but been disowned by his father, Joseph Capriotti. They rarely spoke anymore. The only connection was the money Joseph continued to deposit in Turi's checking account and the credit cards he was allowed to use.
He woke one morning, packed a few clothes in a duffle bag and left Dallas in his F150. Destination unknown.
Sheila Greene had recently divorced her husband of seventeen years. Seth Greene's abusive nature and drinking had gone on far too long. He left her with a hatred for him and fear of men. After the divorce she found it difficult to make ends meet. Her part-time job at Mega-mart and the child support Seth sent to her every month only got her buy each month. There was little left over for any extra.
Her teen daughter was starting to date, her nine year old son needed a real father figure and the two younger daughters, seven and fifteen months needed a real man in their lives as well. She had two brothers and her parents living nearby, but she couldn't depend on them for every little thing which came up.
A little cottage sat behind her Victorian home in Holly Springs, Mississippi. It had seen better days, but with a little fixing up and renovations could be a perfect rental property. With the help of her brothers and father and a small loan, she whipped the place into shape and decorated it. Her father suggested she decorate it in a southwestern motif. He said If fit the style of the cottage with its Dutch-door and inviting front porch.
When it was done she ran an ad in the newspaper.
Turi found himself in Mississippi
He wasn't planning on staying, but decided to spend the night in the first town he came to. He arrived in Olive Branch and found a Mega-Mart. He needed a few necessities. He picked up a Memphis newspaper on the way to the check outs. There he met a cashier named Sheila, a cute little blonde with deep blue eyes.
No, he wasn't planning on staying but the instant attraction to Sheila and an ad for a cottage changed his mind.
When the Texan showed up at her door, she was shocked. She remembered eyeing him before and thinking how handsome he was from the black cowboy hat he wore to the worn black boots on his feet. She felt it ironic she had decorated the cottage as she had. She was reluctant to rent to a single man, but decided to give him a chance. Her youngest child, a baby of fifteen months was attracted to him the moment she saw him. She even called him dada. Sheila knew then she was right in her decision.
He called it the Capriotti charm.
No, Turi Capriotti wasn't looking for love. He was only looking for peace of mind. Sheila Green was only looking for extra income, but she felt drawn to him and felt for some reason God had placed this man in her life. With an abusive ex-husband known to push her around whenever he wanted it might be good to have a real man close by.
Was Turi going to be her hero? Was Sheila going to be the one to lead him back to his core values and God? Would their need for one another draw them into love?
This is the story of Texas and Lil' Foot.
