Irène Némirovsky was a French writer of Jewish origin, victim of the Holocaust.
Born in Ukraine (Kiev, 11 February 1903 - Auschwitz, 17 August 1942), of Jewish religion and then converted to Catholicism in 1939, she lived and worked in France.
Arrested by the Nazis, as a Jew, Irène Némirovsky was deported to Auschwitz in July 1942, where she died a month later.
