Anthony Augello was a Colombo family soldier during an era of strife between the Persico and Gallo factions of hoodlums. Joey Gallo's murder at Umberto's Clam House was only one of a series of gangland murders that eliminated mobsters. Augello was heavily immersed in labor racketeering and bookmaking. He managed a Manhattan nightclub for some time. My e-book looks at news accounts of the attempted assassination of Mafia boss Joseph Colombo Sr. A probable killer was gunned down immediately after Colombo was hit at an Italian-American celebration in Columbus Circle, Manhattan. The shootings occurred on June 28, 1971.
