Meg is the daughter of one of the most powerful men in the Octant. He arranges a marriage to improve his power base. Vehemently averse to his choice of husband and the marriage, Meg runs away.
She stows away on an interstellar freighter and has to learn to survive. Her father does not take kindly to the insult. He sics bounty hunters on her.
