Arthur Intrator was a Jewish-American mobster who was closely associated with the Gambino crime syndicate. Intrator was a lynchpin of a shakedown operation that cost taxi drivers at Idlewild Airport more that $500,000 annually. The racket was broken up at the outset of the 1960s. Two cab drivers offered testimony about how they gave up their money rather than risk beatings by gangs of thugs. My e-book reveals the history of extortion of cabbies that began in the 1930s. Manhattan District Attorney Thomas Dewey was instrumental in breaking up the ring, around 1938.
