"I have read Ruth's book twice, and I am amazed at the calm and wry wit that she brings to our final endeavor, dying. The last cartoon particularly struck me as humorous. Even though I am mid-way through my 70th year, and have some of the final details worked out, I can not for the life of me come up with a three word epitaph. I will just have to re-read Born-Lived-Died until I get one with the right amount of whimsy and mischief. Thanks Ruth Brugger "
—Michael S. Logan, M.S.
Retired Counselor

We all know our time on Earth is limited. Unfortunately, just like taxes, we all have to face death sooner or later. Yet when we approach it with a different attitude than dread, the idea of death doesn't seem nearly as foreboding.

In a collection of poignant and sometimes humorous essays and other writings, Ruth Brugger offers a heartfelt glimpse into one of life's most complex challenges by sharing wisdom from older folks, a creative list of three-word obituaries, thoughtful reflections on the performance of morticians and the size of funeral homes, and entertaining musings about a variety of subjects that include why a woman shopping for a casket might just have a reasonable excuse to buy a new dress.

Born-Lived-Died shares essays and reflections that share a light-hearted yet touching look at life, death, and everything in between.

"... Ruth Brugger perfectly balances humor with great thoughtfulness in a fun but caring manner."
—Marianne Mueller, columnist / reporter, Herald News
