Barney Kotler was a lynchpin in the Harry Gross bookmaking syndicate that flourished in New York City in the late 1940s and 1950s. Kings County District Attorney Miles F. McDonald was incremental in breaking up the Gross' gambling network. Much of the betting was on horse racing and baseball. My e-book names many of the ring's co-conspirators and those indicted in connection with it. Intriguingly, several of the defendants on trial were "dirty" New York policeman. A large arrest of gambling perpetrators occurred at the Aqueduct Racetrack in Ozone Park, New York.
