In the sleepy community of Lauada, North Carolina, Rose Martin, a private investigator, is abruptly pulled into the vicious murders of recent residential arrivals. She finds herself once again working grisly crime scenes with her cousin, and wondering how these incidents could happen in a small town where everybody knows everybody. She accepts the assignment at risk to herself.
