Texts mention kinds of food and their administration. However, they do not address the actual act of food preparation or consumption. Practices related to the processing, storage and consumption of food can be studied archaeologically by analyzing the installations (see Pollock in this contribution) and artifacts that were used as instruments in these practices, as is my intention here.
