Buy Me Roses is the story of a woman's sexual awakening. In 2010, during the midst of the financial crisis, she decided to quit her respectable job and pursue a life as a prostitute myself. When the novel debuted in Italy, the author, a classical literature teacher at one of the most prestigious high schools in Rome, appeared on television declaring, "I am a teacher when I prostitute, and a prostitute when I teach".
