Josephine Post is leaving her home in sunny Florida to begin a new life at college three thousand miles away in the small, pathetic, cold and stylistically void town of Moscow, Idaho.

She falls into a mundane routine until she is approached by Nots Murphy, an upperclassman with an unhealthy obsession for black.  His strange questions continue to pull at the corners of her mind until finally he insists on telling her the truth - she's a witch.

Jo insists he's a freak.

But try as she might, she can't ignore the fascination she has with Nots and the deeper, unexplained trust she has for him.

Nots and Josephine must battle to reveal who she really is and somehow find balance between her preppy social life and his gothic circle.
