The Wood Beyond the World is a fantasy novel by William Morris, perhaps the first modern fantasy writer to unite an imaginary world with the element of the supernatural, and thus the precursor of much of present-day fantasy literature. The story deal with the life of Golden Walter who is betrayed by his wife and is forced to flee his own country. On his new journey he meets a captive maiden who is to be rescued by an enchantress and it is the beginning of their magical adventure together.
