The concept of resilience has been transferred to psychology, encompassing a set of extraordinary qualities and attitudes, which allow us to recover and face adversities. Although these don´t guarantee success, the resilient human being is a new person, more mature and emotionally stable, who manages to defeat the suffering generated by tragic events and becomes stronger.

On the one hand, all of us are not resilient. The resilience has limits and the emotional responses overcome the rational ones (dilemma of resilience). And on the other hand, we can develop our resilience to a lesser or greater extent, as long as we are willing to persevere and make difficult decisions.

Going beyond resilience includes: striving for a balance between the human needs, overcoming the trap of Postmodernity, inquiring about the great existential mysteries, fulfilling a purpose in life and pursuing happiness.

Although resilience does not guarantee success, living a satisfactory, exemplary and virtuous life, includes discovering the meaning of the existence and orienting efforts to this notable purpose, serving others and God. In this regard, the faithful fulfillment of an existential mission prevails over failures and triumphs.
