An Act of Revenge involves a young Chief of the Wampanoag named Jake Prince and his rise to prominence as he battles the court and political system to establish the rights of his people to build a casino on lands owned by the tribe. With the help of his mentor Richard Milneck and new-found love, Maria they delve into the casino process and uncover historical documents, government regulations and decisions that hindered the original application. As they carry out their research, they discover mistakes made by the government and documents that aid in building their case for a court appeal. In the process Jake discovers that his two stepsisters, Becky and Suzy are the power brokers who are in line to gain the most from the court's decision. During their investigation Jake uncovers the involvement of his two stepsisters in the death of his mother and her connection to the development of the casino. Jake soon turns his grief and hatred into an act of revenge. But in the process, he loses the love of his life and his mentor. As time passes he turns to drink and another woman. But as Jake gains the upper hand on the Courts, he regains the trust of his first love, Maria. But their plans for a life together becomes shattered by an odd twist of faith.
