The Worm Ouroboros is a fantasy novel that deals with kings and heroes. The domineering King Gorice of Witchland fights a protracted war with the Lords of Demonland. The world is highly mythological; it is Middle Earth, the "known world," and the gods have names familiar from Greek mythology. Eddison introduces the world as Mercury, but it is evocative of a Medieval earth.
