Alex (no last name) earns his living as a Free Troubleshooter in the Sunlit Spirits Empire. The Sunlits are descendants of certain anonymous Old Earth groups, and have turned those philosophies into a governing system, with peculiar results. They hire Alex to research the explosion of Sunlit Station 23. What he finds instead is that sometimes honesty isn't quite so rigorous.
