Isaac Levitan (1860 -1900) was a Russian artist from Jewish descent who developed the art of the "feeling landscape painting". His extremely powerful painting tradition is of above 1000 landscapes, including drawings pastels and watercolors.
His artworks was a deep answer to the expressive magnetism of the native Russian countryside.
Typical of Levitan's painting is a calmed and almost sorrowful daydream amongst idyllic images of Nature mostly without of human attendance. Excellent instances of these individuality are paintings like The Vladimirka Road, Evening Bells, and Eternal Rest. Although his late landscapes demonstrated knowledge of Impressionist Movement, Levitan's style was as rule silenced, and his approaches were more realistic and lyric than visual or scientific based.
