A 'must read' for anyone thinking about running away into outer space. Or, in fact, anyone who plans to stay on Earth...

#galaxygirl tells the story of Esme Tickle through a series of blog posts.

12-year-old Esme lives with her mum and two younger siblings; Maisie and Isaac. Her unhappiness stems from her annoyance at her mum's seemingly endless stream of boyfriends and the fact that - whilst her brother and sister have regular contact with their dad - she's never even met hers.

She makes friends with Stella, who is on a secret mission from Planet Kratos: a mission so secret even Esme doesn't know what it is. Fed up with life on Earth, Esme stows away on the spaceship taking Stella back to Kratos.

So begins Esme's adventure into a world beyond the stars. A world of strange creatures, thrilling journeys, heroic rescues, and instant fame.

Oh, and school. Lots of school.

Along the way, she discovers that friends may be greener on the other side, but they still can't be trusted. Millions and billions of light years away from Earth, she sets in motion a plan to escape. Unfortunately for her, they aren't about to let their prize exhibit leave anytime soon...

Esme goes on an incredible journey into outer space, but the biggest journey takes place in her heart as she realises that there really is no place like home.

The book's central theme is the importance of family. The secondary themes include animal rights, the power of protest and global warming.

Perfect for 8 to 12-year-olds, #galaxygirl is a 'warm, fresh and funny' story, which is sure to touch the heart of any reader and inspire appreciation for family; no matter what it's shape or size.
