在喀纳斯边上有人发现了一块有奇特花纹的石板，石板让自治区的人悄悄拉走了，这引起当地一些图瓦老人的不满，他们认为石板是自己祖先留下的，很可能是"祈福石"，非要派人去把它拉回来。"我"住在喀纳斯的克孜老人家，"我"向老人打听喀纳斯湖怪的事儿，他有些生气，三缄其口。后来，老人给"我"讲了喀目老爹的故事。传说喀目老爹为了拯救族人，大战邪恶的熊妖，最后变成一尊巨大的石像，矗立在喀纳斯湖边，但这尊石像后来被泥石流淹没了。
