General George Crook, Jim Sundance's old friend, dispatched the half-breed gunman on a peace mission to Fort McHenry, Arizona, where an arrogant young army major was itching for war—and for a promotion. The major's 'enemy', the Apache people, had been living in peace after years of bitter fighting. By the time Sundance arrived, the killing had already begun.
