Naoki states that he wishes to go to visit Etsuko, Kotoko's mother's grave in Akita prefecture, but Kotoko and her father strongly oppose. Awaiting them is an unimaginably over-scaled welcome party. Kotoko's family all love a party, and treat Naoki as if he were a celebrity. And then Naoki silently prays something to Kotoko's Mother at her grave.
