Pearls of Wisdom is an allegory describing a race of tunnel digging creatures on a remote planet. One of them digs through the ice overhead and discovers a universe outside. His is disbelieved, executed as a heretic and his findings suppressed. Meanwhile a probe surveys the planet and sends data to earth indicating that the planet is incapable of supporting life.
